A treasured Family Bible, Prayer Book, Hymnal,
or Artifact can be transformed into a sacred work of art. A commissioned Sacred
Structure by Jim is a precious visual heirloom, thoughtfully researched and
prayerfully made, to pass on to future generations as a remembrance and
reminder of your faith story.
WHAT MUST I PROVIDE?
I work collaboratively with my commission clients to turn treasured Bibles, Religious Books and Artifacts into heirloom art. You will be asked to provide me a picture, dimensions, and number of pages of the Bible or Book that you want incorporated into a piece of art. Typically, the larger the Bible or Book, the larger the U-shaped drape.
I will also want to know if you have something specific in mind to serve as the base structure from which to attach the Bible or Book, such as a cross or alter. If you have a base you want to use, then I will need a picture and dimensions. If you wish for me to provide the base, then to stimulate your thinking you might look through the images of current and historical structures on my website. If you see something you like, I will do my best to find or create a similar look. Finally, I will need to know whether you want a pedestal piece or a wall hanging.
If you have a Religious Artifact you wish to see incorporated into a Sacred Structure, I will again need pictures and dimensions, and if you want me to provide the Bible or not.
WHAT IS THE COST OF A COMMISSION?
Several factors go into determining cost…….the size of the Bible or Book, whether or not I provide the base structure, the complexity of the piece, and shipping costs. Once I have all the information I need, I will provide you a visual mock-up and quote a firm price. I require receipt of your written agreement before I proceed.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The timeline depends upon other commissions I may be working on or exhibition related commitments. Typically, a safe estimate is 2 months.
